DONNIE CASTLEMAN: Tax
Professional, Enrolled Agent, Notary Public
I started studying tax law in 1986, simply to be able to file my own
taxes as a self employed musician. After getting a Bachelor's degree in
Audio Engineering/Music Business from Middle Tennessee State University in 1990, I continued playing bass professionally, and as a
personal favor, doing tax returns for musician friends. It was at this
time that I decided to go back to college and get the additional
accounting hours for a second major in accounting. In 1993, I officially
opened up for business, starting small with 40 clients and growing from
there, with most recent client numbers around 200. I successfully
passed all four parts of the CPA exam,
scoring in the highest percentile in the nation on the Individual Taxation
section. And, I recently became an Enrolled Agent, giving me the same
authority as a CPA or attorney when it comes to representing individuals in
tax litigation and U.S. Tax Court. In terms of media coverage, I've had tax articles printed in
musical trade papers, and have appeared as a tax specialist on a nationwide
radio talk show. I'm lucky enough to wear many hats, as a
tax preparer and consultant, professional
bassist, and producer.
